In the magazine “Versicherungswirtschaft” (Insurance Industry) 8/2015 , the article „Precise overview of the risk situation. Insurance audit and Seveso III requirements.“ by Mr. W.Witt has been published.
The new regulations of the Seveso III directive bring the best and long awaited prerequisites for a successful business development, increased efficiency and a clear risk transparency to the insurance industry.
But the benefits not only affect the insurer. The knowledge of the entire and detailed risk portfolio of a company creates a unique win-win situation for everyone involved. The results gained from the knowledge of the actual risk flow into the insurance policies and thus reduce the costs or offer an incentive for minimizing risk.
However, insurance companies gain completely new possibilities in product design, a more efficient and clear management of same and similar risks and a resultingly increased competitiveness.
It should prove to be a direct interest in the insurance industry that the Seveso III Directive is on time and that its content is faithfully implemented into national legislation.
Almost without alternative in the collection and analysis of basic data are information technologies and document management systems. One example is the recently published “Ovridia-Studio” – so far the only Seveso III compliant IT system on the market.
It would be desirable that the insurance industry recognizes the existing potential of the new Seveso edition and takes an active role in implementing the guidelines.
